After a half assed reveal at E3, Glacius finally gets his own trailer for the upcoming Xbox One fighter, Killer Instinct. In the trailer we see a VERY different looking Glacius from what I personally grew up seeing and quite frankly he looks awful.
Gone is the old “Sub Zero” looking Glacius and in comes some kind of weird looking alien that I think is supposed to be Glacius, the trailer says it’s him anyway. The moves appear to have been changed as well with Glacius now looking like a “keep away fighter” rather than than usual “in your face” Glacius from prior games.
Bringing back an old franchise is always going to be tough as expectations are high and people like myself are very fond of the original titles. I didn’t want a copy paste sequel but at the same time I don’t understand the need to attempt to fix what wasn’t broke. Characters designs in the first two Killer Instinct titles were awesome, why does Double Helix feel the need to change them so drastically to the point of being unrecognisable?
At the end of the trailer we also see a small tease for what is clearly Chief Thunder which is super awesome as he totally got snubbed in Killer Instinct 2. Sadly no gameplay footage was shown which is a major bummer, oh well we take what we can get.
There you have it then, I’ll post Killer Instinct news and trailers as they come due to my love for the first two titles but I’m not really feeling this third entry at the moment.
Hey Double Helix if you’re out there reading this, Killer Instinct didn’t need a reboot, it just needed to come back
